Teaching and Mentoring

Teaching and mentoring have been continuous parts of my academic and professional journey. My experience spans undergraduate and graduate education in aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, numerical methods, fluid mechanics, and scientific computing. I aim to connect mathematical and physical foundations with computational tools and practical engineering problems while helping students develop the independence, rigor, and curiosity needed for research and professional practice.

Alongside classroom teaching, I have mentored researchers and advised students on academic and professional development. This work has included supporting new graduate researchers, contributing an industry perspective to university curricula, and volunteering to guide students who hope to continue their studies in the United States.

Academic Teaching

  • University of Notre Dame (2009–2017): As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I supported undergraduate and graduate courses in turbulence, numerical methods, differential equations, vibrations and control, and engineering computing. I prepared assignments and solutions, graded coursework and examinations, and held office hours for classes ranging from approximately 10 to 150 students.
  • Cairo University (2006–2009): As a Lecturer Assistant, I led recitation sessions, prepared exercises and solutions, graded coursework and examinations, and held office hours for undergraduate courses spanning combustion, heat transfer, propulsion, turbomachinery, engine design, finite-element structural analysis, mechanical design, and engineering drawing.

Mentoring and Volunteer Service

  • American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA): Support technical communities, student research, and professional outreach through leadership and service roles.
  • University of Notre Dame Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Industry Advisory Board: Advise on aligning undergraduate and graduate curricula with evolving industry needs and strengthening connections between academic research and engineering practice.
  • Egypt Scholars: Serve as a volunteer mentor and advisor to students seeking graduate study at U.S. universities, helping them plan their academic paths and prepare for the next stage of their education.
